    The La Colosa open-pit gold project has estimated reserves of more than 24Moz and a gold porphyry system with grading 0.3g/t gold. AngloGold Ashanti plans to invest an estimated $US250mn to explore the gold deposit. It is currently waiting for a water permit to start construction work in 2014 and hopes to begin production in 2017. If carried out the project would call for an investment of approximately US$3bn. La Colosa is expected to have a 20-year mine life. Initial exploration work will be undertaken by 455 workers.
