The project, property of Southern Hemisphere Mining Ltd., covers an area of 172km2 and is located on both sides of the West Fault, over a strike length of 18 km in the north of Chile. The West Fault provides the locus for mineralized intrusions that comprise the northern porphyry copper molybdenum belt. This belt is one of the most heavily mineralized provinces in the world, incorporating some 29 major porphyry occurrences including several of the world's largest deposits, such as Escondida, Chuquicamata, Collahuasi and Quebrada Blanca. In 2013, Anglo American finished a 3,485m drilling campaign and completed a technical review of the results. The drilling program identified low-grade porphyry systems located close to surface as well as the potential for deep (400-500m) porphyry systems.
