    The Yandi mine is about 90 kilometres north-west of Newman in the Pilbara region of WA. Rio Tinto's adjacent Yandicoogina mine is sometimes referred to as Yandi, but is a separate operation. The first shipment from Yandi occurred in 1992. The Yandi and Area C mines are located about 100 kilometres north-west of Newman. They form part of BHP's Pilbara operations.
