    The Competition Commission has approved the acquisition of the Inyanda colliery by a consortium comprising Burgh Group and Lurco Group from Exxaro. Burgh and Lurco will continue to use the Inyanda plant, situated in the eMalahleni district in Mpumalanga, for coal beneficiation and foresees the production of more than 25-million tonnes of coal for the local and international export market over the next five years, which will add significantly to the country’s coal beneficiation infrastructure.

  • Exxaro’s sale of Inyanda given green light 2016-08-24
    The Competition Commission on Wednesday gave an unconditional green light for the buy-out of diversified miner Exxaro Coal’s Inyanda colliery business, in Mpumalanga, by joint venture partners (JV) Lurco Group and Burgh Group. The JV, Inyanda Mining Holdings, also titled Main Street, will take control of the full assets, including the mining right, a 200 000 t/m washing plant and a private rail siding, for an undisclosed amount.

    Dual-listed Resource Generation (Resgen) has pushed back the expected date of first coal production from its Boikarabelo mine in South Africa’s Waterberg region, as talks with potential financiers to secure the best funding package continue. The emerging producer in August entered into a R5.52-billion funding agreement with a financing syndicate, including Rand Merchant Bank, the Public Investment Corporation, the Industrial Development Corporation and Noble.
